I had the privilege of working out with Mark during the last two months for the rock your jeans challenge. At first I tried out the gym to see what it what it was like, do something different and have an element of accountability. Mark is not the trainer that's going to be in your face screaming about weights and reps but rather a quieter coach. He would track my weight and increase them as needed, he would offer words of encouragement and correction all the while paying close attention to form and ability.
During the two months I was able to fit in by jeans again but I gained a greater understanding of my body movements and what I'm capable of. Quietly he taught me comparison is the killer of all joy and to strive to be the healthiest person I can be. Previously I worked out not wanting to disappoint my trainer. At Ignite I've learned to maximize my workouts not wanting to disappoint myself. It's a total mind shift!
Participating in competitive athletics all the way through my late thirties was a big part of my life. However, the demands of a Family and my Job changed my activities so much I started adding the unwanted, unhealthy weight and bulge around the midsection gradually. I decided, I can do this and start exercising again (running, elliptical machines and some weight training). Progress was made but not as fast and boredom set in. It was also suggested to me to count calories, so I did and more progress was made. Boredom, YoYoing and being able to sustain this lifestyle would be difficult at best, so I finally realized.
I was looking for a sustainable, fun, effective and efficient way to get my metabolism back where it needs to be for proper health and fitness. Mark Crabtree is the trainer who has taken me past the plateau and to the next level which I would have not gotten to by myself. My investment into Mark has been an investment into his knowledge of the most current and effective training methods, along with an investment into my long term health. His training has resulted in me being prepared physically and mentally to run my first Spartan race. I’m seeing positive physical changes to my body and others as well.
My Daughter was getting married in May...and I was lucky to find my Mother of the Bride dress quick. I found it in November and loved it. The problem was, Thanksgiving and Christmas… Oops. The dress I loved was now a little hard to zip. Actually, I could only get the zipper up half way! I knew Mark Crabtree but I felt intimidated and wasn’t sure I could do it. If it wasn’t for the stupid dress I bought way too early, I don’t think I would have joined. I did join the program. I got over the intimidation and those first few weeks of work and let Mark take over. The fun of the work out and camaraderie of the others in the class helped with my commitment. The good news is, I lost the weight, I lost the inches and was able to wear the dress I loved. The added benefit was I actually got a compliment on having toned arms.

I’m in My 50’s, and in the Best Shape of My Life Thanks to Mark Crabtree. It used to be I didn’t need to do much to stay in shape. I could eat as much of anything I wanted to without much of a problem. Then I turned 40. Fortunately for me, that was also about the time I met Mark Crabtree.Since I had just turned 40, time started to catch up with me. I put on weight and I started having aches and pains that I never had before. I used to be a runner and I didn’t have the time or the desire to go back to pounding out an endless amount of miles. I also didn’t want to do any heavy weight training. Mark’s programs were the answer because they involve intense bursts of activity that get the heart rate up and build core strength while also working on improving athletic movement.It is over a decade later and I still perform the workouts Mark has taught to me. My weight is down 35 pounds from where I was 10 years ago. I still hit the golf ball as far as I ever have and most importantly, my resting heart rate is low and my blood pressure is in the normal range. I have combined Mark’s workouts with reduced calorie intake and hydration to put me in the best shape of my life according to the annual health screening conducted at my workplace.There is a catch. Mark provides variety and motivation!I met Mark almost 10 years ago when he began working with two of our sons who played basketball and lacrosse in high school. Mark helped them with their speed, strength and agility. I saw how much he helped them AND how much they enjoyed training. Over time, I started working with Mark and have been meeting with him on a consistent basis for over 3 years. I originally started training to get in "shape”. Over the years, I benefited in ways I didn’t anticipate. In addition to keeping weight off, I am improving my strength, flexibility, balance and conditioning. All of these are important as I get older. Mark provides variety by rotating multiple new workouts every month. This keeps it fresh and fun. I've known Mark since I was 16. I trained as an athlete during my time as a travel softball player, and also during the last 2 summers of my collegiate softball career. Mark's program was able to improve my overall speed, core and arm strength and bat speed specifically for softball. In seeing my offensive and defensive results, I wish I had trained with him longer. From my experience with him I've seen that he is able to develop different programs for different athletes and adults specific to their goals. I had the ability to work with him as an intern and was able to learn a great deal. While I was a travel softball coach, I recommended him to my players and other players in the organization. I know all of them have improved with their speed and/or strength.
