Some women drop out of being active during the peri/menopause, for various reasons – tiredness, anxiety, loss of confidence, aches and pains but this is an important time for women to engage in regular sport and physical activity.
It is an opportunity to embed positive long-term exercise habits into their lives as they get older. Simple practical steps are more easily and likely to be incorporated into a daily/weekly routine.
Some women can start to feel isolated so activities like group walks or gym classes can aid social interaction.
Women should be supported, and I believe the health, sport and exercise sectors can work together to educate and empower women to take control of their menopause and health.
I haven’t been great recently with making time for routine exercise, but I recognise how important it is for our long-term health, body and mind to be regularly active. Of course, as a menopause coach, you will agree, I should practice what I preach and be a good mentor!!!
Well, here it is, I have joined an online app and got started today with a 20 minute per day wall pilates session💪 I have chosen to exercise early before I start my day. Otherwise it won't happen 😄
The first step is the hardest!
Let support each other. Share in the comments what you are doing to stay active.
